RECORD BREAKERS

Paderborn Branch have broken all records this year in its fund raising of the Poppy Appeal.  A grand total of €50,116 was raised throughout the year.  Fund raising events have been going on continuously throughout the year.

At the Branch’s Christmas Draw guests: Cpl Harber, 7 Tp Regt,RLC; Cpl Stanley 28 Engr Regt and Cpl Holman, QRH were invited to receive trophies on behalf of their units which raised the most money for the Poppy Appeal by organising fun runs and physical events through out BF(G) in October/November 2007.   The Poppy Appeal Fun run first ran in 1988 and was administered by its founder Jim Griffiths MBE, Branch Chairman.  Results are as follows: Winner and recipient of the Frank Fraser Trophy – 7 Tp Regt, Runners up – QRH, and third place – 28 Engr Regt.  The prizes for the schools that raised the most money went to; winners - William Wordsworth School, Paderborn: runners up - Weser Ham; and third place – Robert Browning School.

Jim would like to thank all the units and schools for their support.  He would also like to thank Sixth-Sense, Paderborn Garrison’s Punchlines and BFBS for their publicity as without their help raising this money could not be achieved.  The Money will be placed in an account and used for helping serving and ex-service personnel and their dependants who are in need.

The Branch also said farewell and a big thank you to its President for the last 18 Months.  Brig James Everard CBE has been very supportive in the Branch’s activities and will be missed.
