National Conference 

The Paderborn Branch of the Royal British Legion won the Noel Rogers Trophy for the 4th year in a row.  The Trophy is awarded to the overseas Branch that raises the most money, pro-capita, for the Poppy Appeal Benevolent Fund during the financial year.  €31,400 was raised by the Branch which equates to £80 per Branch member.  The Money raised was a collective effort by many Branch members under the leadership of Chairman and Poppy Appeal Organiser, Jim Griffiths MBE.

Branch Secretary, Robert Millar was privileged to receive the Trophy from the Legion’s National President, Air Marshal Ian McFadyen CB OBE FRAeS, at the Royal British Legion National Conference in Bournemouth.  The presentation took place in front of approximately 700 people.

In addition to being one of the leading charities, the Royal British Legion is also a pressure group supporting the memory, interest and welfare of those who are serving or have served in the Armed Forces.  The 3 day programme has a full agenda with many motions that are formulated at Branch level and debated at Conference.  This year there were in excess of 600 delegates representing their formations.  It was the first time that Robert had attended the Conference.  It was an honour to go to the Conference as the Paderborn Branch Delegate and play an active roll in the decision making process.
